The acid attacks the hard and soft steels at different rates resulting in a visible pattern on the steel. Teh alternating layers of hard and soft give more flexibility and toughness to the steel, and the hard and soft in the edge act much like serrations and aid cutting.The baeutiful patterns in the damascus blades are unmatched! The handles are genuine deer stag with a nickel silver oval case ilnay shield. The bolsters are nickel silver. It comes with a lifetime warranty.
